Snopa! International Folkdance Weekend Terms
- Opa
- Opa! is the Greek explanation of joy for life.
- Opanke
- Leather dancing shoes, with each design unique to the
many regions of the Balkans. In the U.S., we
international dancers use the term in a generic manner,
but recognize that there are there are many different
designs, each named differently in different languages.
My apologies if this definition offends - I'd be glad to
update this definition...
- Snopa
- Snopa! is a derivative of Opa!, the Greek explanation of
joy for life.
- We borrowed the usage to express our joy for life and
snow (?) in naming Snopa! International Folkdance
Weekend.
