Notice sent to our email list on July 23rd, 2018:

Dear beloved SNOPA! community,

It’s with a great deal of regret and reluctance that we tell you that there will not be a SNOPA! 2019 and the event will be going on an indefinite hiatus.

It’s become increasingly clear over the last several years that SNOPA! in its current form of a multi-day, residential dance-workshop/party just isn’t sustainable long term. We’ve had many brain storming sessions discussing ways to change that future, but no matter how appealing the ideas we’ve had, none of them are SNOPA! So instead of blithely running SNOPA! into the ground or suddenly changing it to something completely different, we made the difficult decision to take at least a year off and carefully evaluate alternatives. We might resurrect it in a different form. We might not. We don’t know for sure.

None of the SNOPA! Committee is entirely happy about this decision. The primary thing that we all absolutely agree on is that SNOPA! is something special that we have all loved and enjoyed, and the worst thing about not having another one is losing the chance to spend a joyous winter weekend hanging out and dancing with all of you. We’re so grateful to every one of you who came, whether you came once, or kept coming back year after year. It’s been a genuine pleasure to dance with you all and we hope to do so again many times in the future.
